Agreement to Terms
By joining London GD Handball Club, participating in our activities, or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before becoming a member or participating in any club activities.
Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
- "Club" refers to London GD Handball Club
- "Member" refers to any person registered with the Club
- "Parent/Guardian" refers to the parent or legal guardian of a junior member under 18 years old
- "Activities" refers to all training sessions, matches, tournaments, events, and other club-organized activities
- "Committee" refers to the Club's management committee
- "Season" refers to the club's annual season, typically running from September to June
Membership
Eligibility
- Membership is open to individuals of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds
- Junior members under 18 must have parental/guardian consent
- All members must comply with the Club's Code of Conduct and policies
- The Club reserves the right to refuse or terminate membership at its discretion
Registration and Fees
- Membership requires completion of a registration form and payment of applicable fees
- Membership fees are set annually by the Committee and are non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances
- Junior membership: £30 per year
- Adult membership fees vary by programme and team level
- Membership is valid for one season unless otherwise stated
- Late payment may result in suspension of participation until fees are settled
- Financial hardship cases will be considered on an individual basis
Member Obligations
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information during registration
- Notify the Club immediately of any changes to contact or medical information
- Attend training sessions and matches as reasonably expected for your team
- Notify coaches in advance of absences
- Behave respectfully towards coaches, officials, teammates, opponents, and spectators
- Comply with the rules and regulations of England Handball Association
- Wear appropriate kit and equipment as required
- Maintain personal hygiene standards appropriate for sport participation
Termination of Membership
Membership may be terminated:
- By the member at any time by written notice (fees are non-refundable)
- By the Club for breach of these Terms and Conditions
- By the Club for conduct deemed detrimental to the Club's reputation or welfare
- By the Club for non-payment of fees after reasonable notice
- Automatically at the end of the membership period unless renewed
Participation and Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct
All members must:
- Display respect, sportsmanship, and fair play at all times
- Not engage in bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior
- Not use offensive, discriminatory, or abusive language
- Not engage in violence or threatening behavior
- Not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances during club activities
- Respect club property and venue facilities
- Follow instructions from coaches, officials, and club representatives
- Promote a positive image of the Club and the sport
Disciplinary Procedures
Breach of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including:
- Verbal or written warning
- Temporary suspension from activities
- Permanent expulsion from the Club
- Reporting to England Handball Association or relevant authorities
The Committee will investigate allegations fairly and provide opportunity for response before making decisions on serious matters.
Health, Safety and Welfare
Medical Information
- Members must disclose relevant medical conditions, allergies, or special needs
- Members must inform the Club of any changes to their medical status
- The Club will maintain confidentiality of medical information
- Members must seek medical clearance before participating if they have any concerns about fitness to play
Injury and Illness
- Members participate in activities at their own risk
- Members must report injuries or illness to coaches immediately
- Members must not participate if unwell or injured without appropriate medical clearance
- The Club will maintain appropriate first aid provision and emergency procedures
- In emergencies, the Club may authorize medical treatment and will attempt to contact emergency contacts
Safeguarding
- The Club is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all members, especially children and vulnerable adults
- All coaches and volunteers working with children undergo enhanced DBS checks
- The Club follows England Handball's safeguarding policies and procedures
- Members must report safeguarding concerns to the Club's Welfare Officer immediately
- The Club will investigate and respond to safeguarding concerns in accordance with statutory requirements
Supervision of Juniors
- Parents/guardians are responsible for children before and after training sessions
- Drop-off and pick-up times will be communicated in advance
- Children must not be left unattended at venues
- Late collection of children may result in safeguarding referrals
Insurance and Liability
Club Insurance
The Club maintains public liability insurance and personal accident insurance for registered members through England Handball Association. Coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of the insurance policy.
Limitation of Liability
- Handball is a contact sport with inherent risks. Members participate voluntarily and at their own risk
- The Club is not liable for injuries sustained during normal participation in handball activities
- The Club is not liable for loss or damage to personal property
- The Club's liability is limited to the extent permitted by law
- Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence
Member Responsibilities
- Members are responsible for their own personal belongings
- Members should ensure they have appropriate personal insurance coverage
- Members are liable for any damage they cause to club or venue property
Photography and Media Consent
The Club may take photographs and videos at training sessions, matches, and events for:
- Club promotional materials and website
- Social media posts
- Local and national media coverage
- Coaching and performance analysis
Members (or parents/guardians for juniors) may opt out of photography and media use during registration. The Club will respect photography restrictions and make reasonable efforts to exclude members who have opted out. However, absolute exclusion from crowd or team photographs at public events cannot be guaranteed.
Data Protection
The Club processes personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.
By joining the Club, members consent to:
- Processing of personal data for membership administration and club operations
- Sharing of data with England Handball Association for registration purposes
- Storage and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy
Payments and Refunds
Payment Terms
- All fees must be paid in full unless payment plans have been agreed
- Payment methods accepted include bank transfer, cash, and cheque
- The Club reserves the right to change fees with reasonable notice
- Additional fees may apply for competitions, tournaments, kit, and special events
Refund Policy
- Membership fees are generally non-refundable
- Refunds may be considered in exceptional circumstances (e.g., serious injury, relocation) at the Committee's discretion
- No refunds will be given for voluntary withdrawal or disciplinary termination
- Event fees may be refundable subject to cancellation deadlines
Cancellations and Disruptions
The Club reserves the right to cancel or modify activities due to:
- Insufficient numbers or coach availability
- Venue unavailability or unsafe conditions
- Extreme weather or other circumstances beyond the Club's control
- Public health emergencies or government restrictions
The Club will make reasonable efforts to notify members of cancellations and provide alternative arrangements where possible. The Club is not liable for costs incurred by members due to cancellations beyond the Club's control.
Intellectual Property
All content on the Club's website, social media, and materials (including logos, images, and text) is the property of London GD Handball Club or used with permission. Members may not reproduce, distribute, or use this content without express written permission.
Complaints and Disputes
If you have a complaint or concern:
- First, attempt to resolve the matter informally with the relevant coach or committee member
- If unresolved, submit a written complaint to the Club Secretary or Committee
- The Committee will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe
- Safeguarding concerns should be reported immediately to the Welfare Officer
Disputes that cannot be resolved through the Club's procedures may be referred to England Handball Association's dispute resolution process.
General Provisions
Amendments
The Club reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Material changes will be communicated to members with reasonable notice. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy and other referenced policies, constitute the entire agreement between the Club and its members.
