Regional League Focus: National South

The top three teams in the National League South are locked on equal points: and this weekend first and third go head to head. Bristol, Carshalton Titans and Chelsea are all on twelve points, with Bristol top of the table by virtue of goal difference. Only Titans are unbeaten so far this season.

Chelsea will play Bristol. The time these teams met in a league match in the autumn, it was a draw at 27 goals apiece. Chelsea’s one defeat of the season came at the hands of Titans in the previous round of fixtures, and Bristol’s solitary defeat has also been to Titans. On that occasion, it was by just one goal.

The teams throw-off at 15.30 at Barking Sporthouse on Saturday.

Fourth-placed Reading Lions will face Titans. Lions were victorious in the National Shield quarter-finals last weekend and are through to the semi-finals. Titans will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten record in the league, having been beaten in the quarter-finals of the National Cup last weekend.

Throw-off is at 12.00 at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre on Sunday.

The third match in the National League South is between Bucks Bullets and Poole Phoenix, in fifth and sixth in the table respectively. In the previous round of fixtures, Bullets went down to Reading Lions and Phoenix were defeated by Bristol. Phoenix and Bullets last met in the league in October and the result was a fifteen-goal win for Bullets.

Throw-off is at 12.30 at Harewood College on Sunday.

Bristol and Titans are just three apart on goal difference, so a win for either could see them go top of the league. Chelsea are thirteen goals behind so will need a larger margin of victory to take top spot. Titans, however, still have a game in hand over Chelsea and Bristol as well as holding their unbeaten record.
