Womens' Premier Handball League: Olympia win to stay top

Olympia beat Peninsula to stay four points clear in the Womens’ Premier Handball League, while second-place London GD won against Loughborough University.

NEM Hawks, in third, ran out victors against London Angels, while West London Eagles won against Reading Lionesses.

Olympia led 19-7 at half time, and turned up the heat a notch as the match finished 39-12. Kerstin Brodin, Malwina Spek, and Andreea Codreau all scored six for Olympia, while Peninsula’s Charlotte Robinson got on the scoresheet four times. Peninsula stay second bottom, a point ahead of Loughborough, but having played a match less than the University side.

Loughborough suffered a 17-59 reverse at the hands of defending champions GD. Aleksandra Garaloska scored an amazing 23 goals for GD.

NEM Hawks produced a strong second-half performance to take maximum points against London Angels, winning 35-22, after a close first half finished 15-12 in their favour. Beth Wilbraham and Eliza Morgan both scored eight goals for Hawks, as did Aniko Pinter for Angels. Hawks, on 21 points are three points behind GD. Angels are in fifth on 19 points.

Eagles beat Lionesses 31-24, building on a 16-12 first half advantage. Reading’s Karolina Dauksaite top scored in the match with 11 strikes, while Sunniva Ovstebo Naess found the back of the net nine times for Eagles. Eagles sit behind Hawks in fourth on goal difference, but have played a match more, while Reading are in sixth on 15 points.
